NDIS and Massage
What is NDIS?
NDIS stands for National Disability Insurance Scheme. It is a government initiative set up to fund people with disabilities for them to get access to the support they need to improve their skills and independence over time.
Does NDIS Cover Massage?
Yes, massage may be covered by the NDIS in some cases.
Massage would need to be included in your NDIS plan (your client’s plan if you are a support coordinator or agency).
There are two categories that that it may make sense to include massage under:
- Improved Daily Living
- Improved Health and Wellbeing
Many people find that massage can help with chronic pain management. It can also be helpful for relieving stress, anxiety, and depression.
How Do I Access Massage Services via NDIS?
This will depend how your funding is managed.
- Self-Managed - Simply book and pay for your massage making sure to keep the receipt. Then make a payment request for the amount that was spent. Remember there are several responsibilities you have when you are self-managed which you can find here.
- Plan-managed - Speak to your plan manager who will be able to help you find a provider and pay them for the service.
- NDIA-managed - Unfortunately, you cannot use unregistered providers with this funding method.
Please note, we are not a registered NDIS service provider. You may access our services if you are self-managed or plan-managed however if you are NDIA-managed (agency) you will not be able to use our massage services.
