Remedial Massage

Remedial Massage is the systematic assessment and treatment of the muscles, tendons, ligaments and connective tissues of the body to assist in rehabilitation, pain and injury management. Some of the common issues that people seek treatment for are:

  • Postural Pain
  • Anxiety & Depression
  • Digestive System Disorders
  • Headaches
  • Sciatica
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Myofascial Pain Syndrome
  • Paresthesias and Nerve Pain
  • Soft Tissue Strains or Injuries

During a treatment, your Remedial Massage Therapist will have you complete a detailed health assessment form and then discuss your desired outcomes for the treatment. They will leave you in private to undress to your level of comfort whilst they wash their hands and knock to make sure it is ok to enter the room. The session will consist of the application of several different techniques such as:

  • Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF)
  • Muscle Energy Technique (MET)
  • Positional Release

Relaxation Massage

Relaxation Massage is a luxurious treat for yourself where you can forget about the world for a while and just focus on the enjoyment of receiving a massage. A Relaxation Massage will be lighter and more general than a Remedial Massage. The techniques used often come from Swedish Massage and Myofascial Release. The massage will cover most of the body depending on time and will place a special emphasis on the feet, hands and head - areas that in our experience relax the body rapidly when worked on. There will be soft music playing which we can turn off if you would prefer silence. We recommend either a 60 minute or 90 minute treatment to allow yourself to settle into a state of total relaxation.

Testimonials

It is always a joy and something of a relief to find a good massage therapist. I often find myself initially tensing when I first feel their hands – an inattentive or too rough or too gentle massage for me is a traumatic experience. Finding Oak was a gift. Oak has a soft and gentle demeanour to put you at ease and obviously knows his stuff. He is willing to work with you in a way that suits you and get to those tough areas with gentle firmness. My neck & shoulders (my tense area) felt so free as I walked out of the massage room. Highly recommend it.

The massage was initially quite tough going (as true sports massages are!), but over the last few weeks my muscles have been relaxing. I now have greater flexibility than I’ve had in the last decade. As the massages progressed I began to enjoy the process. Oak was focused, thorough and gave me a lot of advice. Oak's approach is a combination of traditional medical based practices, and alternate therapies. He is highly knowledgeable on anatomy and the science of massage. He’s also got a full on out of this world alternate mindset!

I felt at all times that I was ‘in the right hands’ on Oak’s massage table. Those massages were some of the most life changing and empowering therapies I have ever been on the receiving end of, and led not only to direct healing of my body but also catalysed dramatic life changes for me. If you are a person who is serious about getting right to the roots of an issue you are experiencing in your body and you want to heal this issue on all levels, go and see Oak.

Sally

After major surgery last year, I was left with a huge amount of scar tissue which caused pain and sever movement restriction. After a few massage sessions with Narelle my movement and lumpy tender scar tissue started dissolving which gave me so much more movement in my arms and decreased the pain dramatically, thanks Narelle.
