Remedial Massage
Remedial Massage is the systematic assessment and treatment of the muscles, tendons, ligaments and connective tissues of the body to assist in rehabilitation, pain and injury management. Some of the common issues that people seek treatment for are:
- Low Back Pain
- Insomnia
- Shoulder Bursitis
- Myofascial Pain Syndrome
- Sports Injuries
- Digestive System Disorders
- Fibromyalgia
- Hypertension
- Stress
- Postural Pain
- Paresthesias and Nerve Pain
- Soft Tissue Strains or Injuries
During a treatment, your Remedial Massage Therapist will have you complete a detailed health assessment form and then discuss your desired outcomes for the treatment. They will leave you in private to undress to your level of comfort whilst they wash their hands and knock to make sure it is ok to enter the room. The session will consist of the application of several different techniques such as:
- Deep Tissue
- Myofascial Release
- Trigger Point
- Sports
- Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF)
- Muscle Energy Technique (MET)
- Positional Release
Relaxation Massage
Relaxation Massage is a luxurious treat for yourself where you can forget about the world for a while and just focus on the enjoyment of receiving a massage. A Relaxation Massage will be lighter and more general than a Remedial Massage. The techniques used often come from Swedish Massage and Myofascial Release. The massage will cover most of the body depending on time and will place a special emphasis on the feet, hands and head - areas that in our experience relax the body rapidly when worked on. There will be soft music playing which we can turn off if you would prefer silence. We recommend either a 60 minute or 90 minute treatment to allow yourself to settle into a state of total relaxation.
Pregnancy Massage
It's very common for women to experience increased muscular pain during pregnancy. As a result of hormonal changes that prepare the body for birth, the ligaments are looser and this can cause pain which is often felt in the lower back and but can also affect other areas. Women that are also caring for young children while pregnant may have a sore upper back, neck and shoulders from reaching down and picking up their children. Pregnancy Massage allows a pregnant women to receive a massage in a safe and comfortable environment from trained professionals. Please read our Pregnancy Massage page for more information.
